How was ShUT formed and what is its objective?
Following notification of the Development Application (DA) concerned residents organised a Public Meeting at the Tomerong School of Arts on Saturday 12 Sept 09.
An outcome of the public meeting was the formation of a Working Group that first met on Wednesday 16 Sept 09. From this meeting Shoalhaven Unwanted Tip (ShUT) was formed. The primary objective of ShUT is to represent those members of the community who are concerned about Shoalhaven City Council DA09/2077 and to lobby all participants in the process to ensure that this development does not progress.
What is ShUT?
'Shoalhaven Unwanted Tip' is composed of:
The Executive- Chairperson Tom Donohue, Secretary Jill Lord, Treasurer Ev Pettigrew, Spokesperson John Levett. Responsible to the members for the administration of the association as detailed in the Association Rules. Also responsible for the strategic direction that the Association takes.
The Public Awareness Team- The purpose of this team is to promote awareness and educate the community on the DA, but most importantly, ensure that submissions are made to Council before applications close.
The EIS Team- This team has the important task of investigating the DA documents, including the Environmental Impact Statement, to highlight areas of concern, inadequacy, or error and submitting a report to the members.
The Media Team- This team deals with all arms of the media and are actively involved in educating the media and getting the word out on the issues relevant to ShUT, the environment and the community.
The Members- We have a growing band of passionate, dynamic and educated people committed to supporting the cause of the Association. As at the 01/03/10 the membership strength was 260 and rising. Why not become a member.
